Who took the "moderated" off this group? There's all sorts of lamers
posting in here now!! I hate it!

TooLongUsingDosHack:

I extract and download lotsa binaries. This *used* to take lots of time,
because the newsserver is over a 28K8 link.

So I have semi-automated the process:
To log in, I press one key which sends my login, pause, passwd, pause, and
the command "tin -f.binrc -S >/dev/null &" Then I run tin,
irc or whatever and
in the background tin puts all the newsgroups listed in ".binrc" into
directories under ~/News/

When that's finished, I run my ".z" file, which uudecodes and
  deletes all the
messages, then zmodem sends and deletes the decoded files. You probably all
think it's lame, but I thought it was rather clever..

(And I just *know* someone's going to point out a switch in tin that does all
this automatically.. it usually goes that way.)
